About Me

I am the Director and a Full Professor of International Affairs at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University in Ottawa.  I was born and grew up in Mauritius, where I obtained my Higher School Certificate (A levels) at the Royal College Curepipe.  I hold a BA in Economics and Mathematics from Glendon College, York University, an MA in Economics from the University of Toronto, and a PhD in Economics from the University of Ottawa.  I have published widely on issues related to international economics and economic development. My current research interests include state fragility, foreign aid, small island developing states, domestic resource mobilization and income inequality, with a particular focus on sub-Saharan Africa.
